Find Your Voice

An Online Writing Course

An 8-week Online Course for Beginning Writers.

Every writer has a voice.
This course will help you find yours.

Have you always wanted to write, but weren't sure how to begin?

Do you find yourself noticing things, collecting memories, imagining stories, or wanting to put your thoughts into words?

Perhaps you've started writing before and stopped. Perhaps you've kept journals for years. Perhaps you've never written anything beyond an email or text message.

Wherever you're starting from, you are welcome here.

Find Your Own Voice is an online writing course for beginning writers who want to develop confidence, experiment with different styles of writing, and discover what makes their own voice unique.

What You'll Learn

Over eight weeks, you will:

  • Experiment with first‑, second‑, and third‑person narration
  • Explore story, letter-writing, poetry, dialogue and reflection
  • Learn how point of view, metaphor, image and emotion shape voice
  • Develop confidence in sharing your work
  • Give and receive constructive feedback
  • Recognize and strengthen your unique writing voice

Each week combines reading, discussion, and writing, allowing you to learn by doing.

How the Course Works

Weekly Live Sessions

We meet online once a week for two hours.

During each session we will:

  • Discuss a short reading by a notable author
  • Explore a specific writing technique
  • Share and discuss our own writing
  • Offer supportive, constructive feedback

Course structure

  • Length: 8 weeks
  • Live class: 2 hours per week (online)
  • Bonus follow-up meeting: Several weeks after the course ends, we meet again to reflect on how your writing has developed
  • Weekly writing: 1-2 pages in different genres
  • Community blog: Comment on classmates’ work on your own schedule

All discussion and feedback are constructive, grounded, and kind. This is a space for growth, not judgment.

A Final Word

Writing begins with paying attention.

The world is full of stories, memories, images, conversations,
and questions waiting to be explored.

This course offers time, structure, guidance, and community to help you discover
what you want to say—and how only you can say it.

Your voice is already there.

Let's find it together.

Writer & Writing Teacher

I've been writing and teaching writing for many years. This course grew out of a conviction I keep returning to: that every person has a way of seeing the world that is worth developing and sharing — and that most beginning writers simply haven't yet had the right conditions to discover it.

Find Your Voice is designed to be those conditions: structured enough to build real skills, open enough to let your own voice emerge rather than someone else's idea of what writing should sound like.
